Nice to see someone cares.

My computer is (like most, I assume) geared up to automatically accept updates. So when I switched on and saw this “Fault” I immediately restored my computer to a previous date and turned off the “Updates”.

Later I spent sometime investigating and correcting the error before seeing your link (which would have saved me a lot of time and stress).

Doesn’t Microsoft realise a lot of people know very little about the workings of computers and merely switch on to surf?

Yes they did supply a workable “Patch” but who would have know where to find it or worse, be able to work out just what to do with it when they did?

Perhaps a simple note on the "Warning" panel directing us to their support site may have been useful?

The warning message, itself, was interestingly composed.

Wow look at all these people who got points on Y!A for saying "thanks" - that isn't right. You have lost 5 points and given all of these people points for nothing. And you saved their audio drivers. You must be a nice person.

Thank you so much; our computer is only 3 months old, and we are still at the experimenting stage...I was blaming my son for downloading games, icons, cursors, etc from suspect sites! I seem to have fixed it now, thanks again to you! Well done, that was a decent thing to do!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I know nothing about computers and was worried this might be something serious. Done what you said and now I feel really clever that I fixed it myself!!! Tou are a star.
