Pelosi's spokesman, Brendan Daly, said in a brief phone conversation: "We never said the (Israeli's) position changed."
Instead, he said, Pelosi accurately conveyed Israel's position: should the Syrians end their support for Hezbollah and Hamas, then the Israelis would be willing to talk.
Daly pointed out that Pelosi was briefed by State Department officials before her meetings with the foreign leaders and that State Department officials also attended her meetings.
So if Pelosi really committed foreign policy flubs of the first order, the State Department is in a position to confirm as much.

The White House certainly received a read-out of what exactly Pelosi and the foreign leaders said in their meetings. Significantly, the White House has not openly accused Pelosi of the foreign-policy missteps the Post had accused her of.

In an e-mail follow-up, Daly wrote: "WH has not said that because in fact the Speaker did not get the
message wrong -- she included the neces

My favorite part of the article:

"U.S. Rep. David Hobson on Wednesday rebuffed Bush administration criticism of his trip to Syria with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying she has reinforced Bush administration policies in the region and possibly made progress toward peace in the Middle East."

Hey, you are smelling the rose water and not bothering to see what it is covering up...

The BOTTOM line here is that Pelosi went over there WITHOUT portfolio and against the wishes of the State Dept and then started trying to pawn herself off as some sort of savior for the world by opening "dialogue" with the terrorist head of this terrorist state.

She made hereself out to be the biggest joke in government since Clinton asserted "I did not have sex with that woman."

She is a clown. She is no way represents this government and acted as a loose cannon.

No other senators just took off over there trying to be something they weren't.

Republican senators went there on fact finding missions approved by the state department and did nothing that could even be misinterpreted as speaking for the country.

And I still believe she mis-represented the position of the Israeli government because the PM of Israel found it necessary to "clarify" the Israeli position diplomatically as unchanged.

Pelosi is a liar. And if you believe her, you are a dupe.

The Rove spin machine is all about LIES, DEFLECTION, HALF TRUTHS, DEMONIZATON TO ANYONE WITH OPPOSING POSITIONS, AN MORE LIES ! ! ! !

The Fox News Channels is the PROPOGANDA OUTLET TO the none too bright masses who believe anything you tell em cuz its just eazier that way....Lots of very rich greedy people help elect this administration and they got plenty for their investments, more than any in history. They can be bashed and insulted ad nauseum while they laugh all the way to the bank with their billions to live in foreign domiciles.

Why has no one taken to task the Bush investment of purchase " 100,000 ACRE RANCH in Paraguay?? Why has no one questioned and sent to PRISON those who Billions of mismanaged funds by this administration with concerns to the no bid contracts given to friends of the ADMINSTRATION ???

Why has NO ONE taken to task the secret meetings between BUSH and Saudi Arabia and the arrangements made concerning OIL? The media is a main part of the problem with what is wrong. The MEDIA DOES NOT look after the best interest of the populus. They are part of the over all agenda of the govt. With all that is going on, why spend 20 minutes of every hour of news air time on Anna Nicole Smith and American Idol?????

HELLO ! ! The NEWS organizations determine what gets broadcast. They feel the public should be fed Anna Nicole and IDOL so you don't get mad at how this nation and this world is being fleeced by the current powers that be. They are protecting their positions of power in doing so.

Think about it ! Who's pulling who's string DUMMIES ????

The real twist here is why did Pelosi need to go there and reiterate Israels position? We have all known their position for quite sometime. It is not an Israeli State secret. The entire world knows Israels' position. why did Pelosi feel that she needed to put in her two cents? It is not in her job description, and not what she was elected to do.

What exactly are we lying about? That she went ahead to Syria AGAINST the specific advise of the President or that, once there, she has NO AUTHORITY to represent the United States abroad, much less Israel, regardless of the accuracy of that representation?

Neither of these facts are deniable nor do they make liars out of the right. But they do make Pelosi a traitor to her country.

She is attacked because she is one of the leaders of the Democratic party, and since she is so visible, they have to work to tear her down. The right is very good a tearing down people. In fact it is their greatest talent. If they were as good at developing policy and leading as they are at disparaging those that disagree with them, they would be fantastic. Unfortunately they concentrate on winning at all cost and keeping power instead of what is good for the people they represent.

Captain... you need to ask yourself in your mind concerning the kids killed in Beslan and Vietnam:

1. Were the kids specifically and intentionally chosen instead of adults or the brush of jungle

2. Was the Naplam's top intent to kill the kids? Was the intent of the individual bullets aimed solely at the heads and backs of each of 243 half-naked kids in Beslan by Muslims solely to kill those kids?

Funny, why do the Democrats have to tell us that the Israelis position didn't change when the Prime minister of Israel says that she misrepresented them?

Looks like liberals can only spin the truth.
