It sounds like something from 80s, possibly Boston or Styx, with a male solo vocal for the verses and a group for the rest. Lyric in it is something like:

"every time I close my eyes"

That's all I have as far as clues! Sorry!

Styx had a song called "Show Me the Way" I think it was released around 1990.

"I close my eyes and know theres peace in a world so filled with hatred"

Boston had a song called "Don't Look Back" but that was released in the late 70's.

Of course, Kansas's "Dust in the Wind" starts out with "I close my eyes" But was also released in the late 70's.

Only 80's song that I keep thinking of for some reason is Night Ranger's "When You Close your Eyes"

I don't think it's Van Halen I think it's Areosmith's "I don't wanna miss a thing"
