At first glance at this symbol on the back of somebody's car I thought it was a pro-evolution mockery of the christian fish sign. But then I realized this might not be the case because the symbol could mean that darwin is being likened to a primitive inferior creature.

it is not "pro-evolution". It is just a response to the people who feel the need to drive around with jesus fish. The darwin people simply want to let the religous people know that they too hold something sacred. Science. They dont put their faith in religion, instead they put their faith in facts. It is like every other debate. If you start talking (or showing) about what you think is right, the other person has the right to talk about what they think is right.

So, you think it is mockery of christianity if it is pro-evolution, but perfectly OK if Darwin is being likened to a primitive inferior creature?

That's what your question sounds like. OK for christians to mock Darwin, but not OK the other way around?

bigdonut hit it absolutely right.

It is not mocking Christianity. It is just an expression that there are some things that are a big part of our lives as well. For me, it is not just a symbol of being pro-evolution, but pro-science.

It is only "anti-Christian" to those Christians who believe that evolution and Christianity are in opposition. As a Catholic, I don't believe there is any conflict between the two ... so my Darwin-fish on my car is NOT an "anti-Christian" symbol.

A Darwin fish with D-O-G in it's center is another playful nudge on backwards thinking Christians.

yes, that is what it is supposed to mean...but just as with everything others will use it for something else like mocking evolution.
