I think it would be nice not to leave Al Qieda in power there.

There is no victory in Iraq.. We can't accomplish something that doesn't exist.. To look for reasons that we succeeded is only a way to cover the one and only reason we are there... Come on.. don't be blinded by bullshit, lies, and cover ups. This was a fabricated war that we have no right to be involved in.. God bless our troops and pray that we can get them home safely without further loss.. Bush has done nothing more then use our troops as pawns in his own fabricated war... He's the real war criminal and should be put on trial for this... And now just trying to stall off the removal of troops until the next president comes into office so that the new president can have the egg on his face.. Which will happen...

I agree with the reasons listed on the Iraq war resolution that passed 77-23.
To make sure Iraq would not create WMD's that would be used against the US by Iraq or Terrorists in the future. mission accomplished.
To remove Saddam from power for many reasons. mission accomplished.
To enforce the ceasefire agreement imposed after the first Gulf War. mission accomplished.
We won.
Why are we still there? To keep the muslims from killing eachother. If we leave Iraq now, we don't lose... The people of Iraq do.

An American victory in Iraq would be an immediate withdrawl of every last soldier, stopping on their way out to kneel and beg for forgiveness from the Iraqis for destroying their country and manipulating them and then to God and pray he doesn't judge them too harshly.
Along with doing daily flyovers with bombers filled with packets of money and apologies.
That would be a great victory for this country.

Saddam overthrown (done).
A non-dictatorship government established for and by the people of Iraq. Unfortunately, nobody planned that far ahead. Perhaps George Weinie Bush did not anticipate victory in the first phase...?

They'll stop fighting when they run out of ammo.
If all our troops secured Iraq's borders and left the rest to the Iraqis, it would stop the insurgents from gaining access and brining in more weapons.
Let them have their civil war while eliminating the possibility of it lasting forever.

A working elected government.
Enough peace that FDI flows into Iraq by the Billions.
A connected Iraqi people that welcome and partake in the global economy.
Small US military posts similar (but smaller) to those left in Germany after WWII.

pretty good question.
Well I suppose that if the insurgents coming into Iraq were suppressed. That would either mean they were arrested or due to supperior opposing force they were innefective and left.
Then the Iraqi military was sufficiently trained and organized to enable them to be able to maintain the same condition after we withdrew.
I guess that would do it.

We have already accomplished everything we went there to do. It is time for the Iraqis to police their own country.
