Morality is in the eye of the beholder. Both political parties in America use to vilify each other when they cannot in pun their opponent. Although at this point, I fear the support of Gay pedophiles representing the conservative movement. Say what you must about our previous President schoopting a young female campaign worker, but I feel a lot safer with a person that can tell the difference between 18 and streight, than any tight set of Glutes, 12 to 60 having a pulse or not !!!

There are different types of conservatives.

Moral Conservatives believe in

1. Abortion is wrong
2. Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman
3. Sex leads to kids and if you do not want a child, do not have sex.

Most moral conservatives are Republicans, though some are Democrats. The current Democrat party has gone so far left that there is little room for conservatives in their party

Then there is economic conservatives. People like this understand that lower taxes are better, small government is good, etc.

No. Moral values are nonpartisan. But, many conservative run a platform of strong moral values. That doesn't mean they represent them.

much like any group.. they seem to have their own "moral standards" that focus on some issues, while not focusing on others...

it's the morals that they value, are those they represent... but there are probably other overall morals that they have no real care for...

Conservatives actually think they have a okay from God to be immoral. The first quote that comes to mind is "God loves me best". They pray before football games. lol "Who is god going to choose to win?" The pray at war. Who does God want to die. How in the world can God choose to kill a Iraqi child who "doesn't even know he is an Iraqi yet" (I can't remember who said it but it stayed in my mind). That is what a concervative really thinks. I think a liberal knows that God loves us all. He doesn't choose between child and another. If Jesus existed he was forgiveness and forget. Not forgiveness and "pay back is a b.tch"
Conservatives want to hold past mistakes over everyones heads. If conservatives are confronted with their moral issue they always come back with "well remember when....did it" trying to distract the attention from themselves and putting in on another person.

Conservatives are like a child that goes up to his mommy and say "mommy I didn't break that broken glass hidden behind the door". The child doesn't realize he just told on himself. So he thinks he got away with the crime. lol Never realizes mommy now know he broke the glass. And continues to deni he broke it.
Thou shall not lie... (bare false wittness) Isn't one of the 10 commandments. To me it is one of the most important commandments to keep (honor, integrity, trust etc....) yet the most frequently broken of commandments. Yet every conservative believes it is okay to lie. You have to lie to committ almost every other commandment and like the theif in the night, "Kill, steal and destroy.." Morals....to lie would be one of the morals conservatives slack on the most.

Well, it depends on what your moral values are. Every group has certain values--it's just that these morals clash and that's why we have a culture war in America. The conservatives have traditional moral values rooted in the Bible. They stand for family values like traditional marriage, a greater voice for traditional Christianity in the public square, life from conception. In short, conservatives believe in tradition which we find most eloquently expressed in the Bible. That's why conservatives oppose premarital sex, homosexuality, etc.

Liberals have moral values too. They believe in equality, multiculturalism, and tolerance and acceptance. They rarely use the Bible to justify moral values except for some who claim that the Bible advocates pacifism and socialism (Christian Democrats in Europe). They support gay marriage and abortion because they oppose making moral judgement.

In my opinion the conservatives are right. Liberal values come from the heart--a place of emotion--but conservative values (as expressed by Edmund Burke, John Locke, etc.) are rooted in reason and Biblical tradition. I trust that more than my emotions.

They have all the morality of a Mark Foley. When a Republican speaks about his family values, it's never very long until you learn he's sleeping with his daughter, or doing something equally vile. Republicans only pretend faith to get "religious" saps to vote for them.

I think that government has no business in matters of morality, and any politician using morality as a platform is the antithesis of moral.

No. Morality is not Partisan. It is subjective.
EDIT: Christianity does not necessarily equal morality. Some of the most moral people I know are not Christian.
