I know what the rep for the UOP is on the internet, and you either love it or hate it. I am not thinking of going there to earn a Masters, or anything like that, but i am wondering would it be a good idea to go and knock out some of my more basic classes and then transfer into a "real" college. Is it easy to transfer after recieving my Associates from UOP? Do other colleges frown on this method? Or is it the same as taking correspondent classes at any other college?

Some colleges will accept transfer credits from U of P, but some will not. It usually depends on what you major in at U of P, and how that particular program is accredited. If you're just doing liberal arts, you may be okay - but you'd serve yourself well by contacting one of the schools you think you might want to transfer into, and asking them.

You may be able to get your associates online via a community college in your state. Once you got your associates, your credits would be guaranteed to transfer into any college with which the cc has a transfer compact - which at a minimum is usually all the state colleges in your state - but you'd also save a boatload of money. It may be worth investigating this option before you enroll at U of P.

It is not a good choice. Your degree will not be respected, and you will have trouble getting a job with a degree from U of P.

It is a For Profit corporation that recently paid a $9.8MM fine for sleazy recruiting practices. Companies like Intel refuse to pay for their employees to take classes there because they feel it lacks rigor.

While U of P claims it is fully accredited -- it is the easy to get regional accreditation and not the more prestigious national accreditation.

Getting a degree from a public university will be cheaper and will be respected. Go to a real school.

It will not be easy to transfer any credits from U of P into any respectable university.

My university, for instance, never accepts any U of P credits under any circumstance.

If you must do ANY study online, do it through a reputable state university. University of Maryland and University of Pennsylvania have good distance education programs, for instance.
