Here are some that you could use.

Also don't forget to use visual aids to enhance your project. Teachers love the more types you use.

First human launched to space and how it changed the future of the world.

The assassination of JFK, and how the Americans responded to the events following it.

Any major battle, like Gettysburg, Waterloo, Normandy, Battle of Iwo Jima, These battles have helped shape nations after they were faught,

The question is, what do you have the biggest interest in, what captures your imagination. Thats whats going to help you get extra points when doing any oral presentation. Many teachers are looking for something more then just a dry speech. They are looking for you to step up and make the presentation entertaining.

Example.

The events that led up to JFK being shot are kind of hectic, The route was changed, the car was changed, ect..

Or

The battle of Gettysburg, was one of the most significant battles of the civil war. This was the first time the south had really did a northern push with its army. The battle was waged over a weeks period of time, with the mighty 32nd Maine holding the line on the left against the Kentucky 21st. The Maine unit took so many casulties that after the battle, they were moved to the middle of the Norths lines, to keep the few soldiers that were able to continue alive.

The names and stuff are not right, it was just an example on how to make something stand out. People won't remember the first one, but they will the second one. (also if you have a map drawn up of the battle, with the units, and do it by day, it would add alot to your presentation).

Good luck on your paper, no matter what you choose to do.

p.s. can you tell i love the Civil War :).
