Can anyone with a laptop, evade your home computer from outside?

In other words I learned that people with MAC, Apple laptops managed to evade someone's home computer, either from a car/ a park/.....How the heck can these guys do that?

It's fairly simple, if you have a wireless connection setup on your home computer. Always insure that your wireless connection is encrypted. Of course, if your home computer is turned off, or your wireless connection disabled, then it isn't possible.
