I see you have more then several helpful hints on boat building so, I've made several boats as a project through the winter months. I have a small wood shop myself. It takes a number of tools that most people don't have or don't know how to use. It takes money of course and some experience in the use of certain power tools.
It also takes some experience in the use of wood and it's versatile tendencies. Bending wood, steaming, etc.
You can buy kits from Main, cedar built canoes and boats. They're not cheap buy any standards.
It is a nice project like I say if your knowledgeable about wood crafts. You can get the books and learn, trial and error, a little expensive and remember "measure twice, cut once"

You may want to check diynetwork.com or do a google search. Also, check local woodworking stores or woodworking books. I have seen tv shows on boatbuilding and it can take a few thousand man hours to build a boat of any size bigger than a rowboat.

I don't know what size you want to build, but try WWW.UNCLEJOHNS.COM/BOAT/ . I built the cajun pirogue. The plans are easy to follow.
