Britons: Iran bound, threatened captives By TARIQ PANJA, Associated Press Writer
33 minutes ago
ROYAL MARINE BASE CHIVENOR, England - British sailors and marines held for nearly two weeks in Iran were blindfolded, bound and threatened with prison if they did not say they had strayed into Iranian waters, a Royal Navy lieutenant who was among the capitives said Friday.

Lt. Felix Carman, safely home with his 14 colleagues, said the crew faced harsh interrogation by their Iranian captors and slept in stone cells on piles of blankets. Unable to see and kept isolated, they heard weapons cocking.
"We were blindfolded, our hands were bound and we were forced up against a wall. Throughout our ordeal we faced constant psychological pressure," Carman said. "All of us were kept in isolation. We were interrogated most nights and presented with two options. If we admitted that we'd strayed, we'd be on a plane to (Britain) pretty soon. If we didn't, we faced up to seven years in prison."

Ha!...that's what I said the other day! That he has more class than Bush. You can tell just by looking. I like the Iranian and think he's cool! Too bad we couldn't switch. Posted by Ugly Betty in response to Chi's question above.

I don't think that the left wing was openly saying that the Iranian President was a great diplomat. They were just trying to turn the situation into another Bush Bashing Party. Those who were keeping up with current events knew that this was a propaganda operation by the Iranians from the start. For those who are comparing the detention of POWs at Guitmo with the detention of the British sailors and marines in Iran are missing a couple of important facts...No one has declared war on Iran and Iran entered internationally recognized Iraqi waters to seize the small party of Brits the were on two Inflatable patrol boats with little chance of escaping. If Iran wants to declare war against the UK and the US, then you could compare their detention to what is happening in Guantanimo Bay.

the sorrowful area is a few days in the past (a similar day he finally made a reliable fact against Iran's medical care of the protesters) Obama replaced into asked if the invitation replaced into nevertheless open and he pronounced it replaced into nevertheless up the the Iranians on no count if to settle for it or no longer. He even pronounced it two times. yet after he caught some flop that afternoon for asserting that the very next morning the White living house released a fact asserting the furnish replaced into rescinded. Why did Obama would desire to attend till day after at present incredibly of showing he had a pair the day earlier by ability of asserting they weren't welcome incredibly of attempting to play Mr. superb guy by ability of asserting it replaced into as much as the Iranians? Plus he had to have a White living house team member do it for him incredibly of owing as much because it himself. And Liberals can not make certain why maximum of human beings think of Obama lacks a backbone.

I personally think the Iranian President was told by the religious leaders of his country that he was embarrassing Iran. This is the reason he gave them gifts and tried to make himself look like a good guy to save face for his country. He also knew what he was up against in the coalition and wasn't ready to take on that fight until he had a nuke. I think they were taken to side track the world from the fact that his nuclear program is still going on against the will of the UN.

Rosie O'Donnel was saying that the Britain's got what they deserved for being in "Iranian water". I have seen several liberals say that the Iranians weren't bad people, they were just getting a bad rap.

That's something I must have missed. I've yet to see or hear of anyone calling Ahmadinejad a diplomat and humantiarian. Did you make that up or did you pluck this from one idiot and claim all liberals think this? It's ridiculous.
Again, your additional details just add to the ridiculousness of this question. You are generalizing about an entire group of people due to the ramblings of a few, not real surprising though.

No not really, but I do think he is a powerless joke who will vanish from the world stage after the next Iranian elections. The real power in Iran now is with the Religious leaders. The same as it will be if we ever leave Iraq.

Yah, this entire board was filled with people saying they were in Iranian waters and they deserve to be prosecuted and the US does way worse. Then when they were released they said see Iran is nicer than Bush and look at how nice they are.
Now we find out they were interogated, threatened with imprisonment (which in an iranian jail means death), were kept in terrible conditions, forced to lie.
Geeze, didnt see this coming.... not.

Only in your right wing-nut dreams. Wake up, we all deplored what had happened and were relieved to see the Brits safely home. Trolls like you, trying to get a flame out of the situation, would see something other than that due to your natural dispositions.

Educate yourself. Any idiot can believe what they hear on Fox news without questioning it. Do some research to find out what people think. Don't just regurgitate whatever Rush Limbaugh shoved down your throat.

More empty rhetoric with no facts to back up your garbage. Iran see's america and britian as an enemy because they are the people preparing to attack iran. Why would they not want to interrogate the enemy? We are still holding iranian diplomats that were in iraq to talk with iraqi's about security.
