Since the slope is 2, we are looking for another line with the same slope or of the form y=2x+c, such that when x=1 y=2

put (1,2) into (x,y)

2 = 2*1 + c

2=2+c // -2

0=c

The requested line is y=2x

the slope equals 2 over 1.
go to the point (1,2).
go up two, right one. (and so one)
or go down two, left one.

y = mx + b
m = slope
b = y-intercept
(x, y) = point on line

Parallel = same slope

2 = 2(1) + b
2 = 3 + b
-1 = b

Your equation is y = 2x - 1.
