There are many components that work together in the engine to maintain optimal engine performance and economy.
A service engine soon, or check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is "out of range".
Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem.
Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money.
The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have an engine diagnostic done by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with. Just reading the computer codes may not find the "cause".

My point exactly! Auto zone does you a diss-service by checking your codes.

What you want to do is have an automotive technician diagnose your car. We know what the codes mean.

You may have never needed any parts. Have you checked for blocked passages? Does your DPFE work? Is a vaccum hose off?

Well I gotta stop answering questions now, the batphone just rang, and there's a 98 Montana with multiple codes! See ya

fords have a sensor that tells the computer if the egr is working I think that the sensor is probably the problem. You may want to consider fixing the problem instead of removing the light because later if you have a real problem that can damage your engine you won;t know it until it is to late.

thats a very bad idea! if you pull out the bulb and something really bad happens you could be looking at a serious engine failure. ill tell you something you might try is tightening your gas cap very tight and if that dont fix it try replacing it. the fuel tanks are pressurized and VERY sensitive to this. this is a very common problem on mustangs around your year.(i know,i have a 96 mustang and is really easy to not get it tight enough). good luck!
