making a terriable noise when i put it into reverse but it still goes in it . makes a noise after i put it in drive to but still goes in it. in reverse it just revs up. just started this morning. never had any trouble with it. also, still drives. it is not a clinking sound or a clunking sound it is like a rev up sound. like it 's not connecting to the gear. but it still goes in it. hard to explain. but would appreciate any help.

The reverse reaction shell stripped out he splines in the trans between it and the input sun gear.
Parts and labor $800. But when you take it in, they will try to sell you a whole new trans for a lot more.

delphiis proably on the right track you can verify this by driving the vehicle if it is the reaction sun shell you will have 1st & 3rd gears only.(no rev,2nd or 4th) if this is the case, replace the sun shell & gear.

The sun shell has stripped out in trans .you should also not have second gear ,just first and third.common problem with 4L60-E trans .

check fluid,,if full drive to tranny shop and bring checkbook.. My 1999 S10 just rebuilt 1300 dollars..i think its a cheap price...others say 1500 to 2000
