I'm a public health professional in CA. I work for the local health department, but many of my colleagues work in non-profit settings. Are you interested in a particular topic or field? There are a lot of non-profits that deal in women's health, LGBT communities, immigrant and minority health issues, mental health, children's health, cancer, chronic disease, HIV/AIDS, etc. Have you checked the PH job board at Emory? Are you looking specifically for groups that are hiring? Do you have specific cities in mind? The best places in CA to work in non-profit public health are the big cities: SF Bay or Los Angeles.

There are lots of places you can work, depending on your interests and qualifications (which you don't mention).

And since you didn't specify one place in particular, I will generalize:

Hospitals would be an obvious choice, but there are also lots of national organizations you could try like American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, etc... Have a look in the Yellow Pages.
