Will America elect a woman to the White House in Nov 08? Are women as capable of men to be leaders and why or why not?

I believe that it is possible for a woman to be elected President in the United States.

But.. I don't believe that woman is Hillary Clinton, so it is unlikely that a woman will be elected in '08.

Why not Hillary?

Well, she isn't charasmatic like her husband, she doesn't have that 'one huge galvanizing issue' in her campaign that will drive millions out to vote for her, and there are plenty in her own party that are not exactly ecstatic about her prospects in the general (much less in the job itself).

Also, there is a huge 'Hillary-Haters' club that will definitely spend the money and get out the vote during the general, so even if she manages to get her party's nomination (which isn't a foregone conclusion), then she will still have a huge battle facing her in the general.

Giuliani is her worst nightmare (if he manages to get the nod from the Republicans) with his charming demeanor and straight-talk. He will glean away the precious moderate-flag-waving-swing voter leaving Hilliary with a base that she isn't really emulating anymore (i.e. the ultra lefties).

I can assure you that many conservatives are holding their breath secretly hoping she survives the nomination process of the dems, because they believe (and they may be right) that she will receive a very nasty lashing in the general.

Unless the republicans can find a way to put W. back on the ballot, I don't see much hope for Hillary...

But then again, there is always 2012....

I am a man sayinf that I do not know if America will elect a woman to the White House in November 8, but yes, they are capable to be leaders because woman deserve a chance to be president. Just because men are always presidents, doesn't mean that woman cannot lead America to the right direction. Woman are usually more mature than men. So why don't they give it a shot. I think woman can be very strong leaders for America. I think Hillary Clinton, if America votes for her, can be a great leader for U.S.A as Bill Clinton did in the past but even better.

I think gender-based discrimination is pretty much at an end right now, and I would definitely choose a female president if she is more qualified than the male counterparts.

However, for the election of '08, I do not think that the most likely female candidate is truly the best fit for the job.

When it comes to selecting presidents, it's not about going with what's available, but rather what's the best. Just because the US is ready for a female president doesn't mean that she'll be the best for the job. All that simply means is that females will be treated equally when compared to males.

It's also very possible that we'll get our first non-white president in the elections. That can also be as big as having a female president. However, if the traditional white male happens to be the best candidate, so be it.

I think it is. I would vote for a woman if I felt she was qualified. A woman will eventually occupy the White House as president, but I'm not sure it will happen in '08. Besides, there are more women voters in America than men. If women made a concerted effort to elect one of their own, it would be a done deal. Yes, women are just as capable of being leaders as men, because they have a brain just as men do. After all, look at the buffoon we have occupying the Oval Office today. Just about any woman could do the job as good or even better job than he has. Even some monkeys could probably do a better job than he has, but that's not to say that I'm comparing women to monkeys, because I'm not. After all, I'm married to one (a woman, not a monkey), and she probably has more insight and intelligence than Dubya could ever dream of possessing.

Hello. I believe men should be presidents and leaders in a more demanding position. I believe that's the way God intended it to be and the woman's lib movement has had repercussions. I believe men are physiologically set better for such positions, and women as a whole are not. This is not to say that women are a lower classification or what not, but the reality as to how men and women are fundamentally wired in their being was set by God... not man or woman. That's reality and when those who are being good and/or godly women fulfilling their God-given set of capabilities it's right and good. There was once something done to give girls toys generally for boys and vice versa... yet eventually the essential innate wiring came to bear as the children wanted to play with their gender specific toys. A woman like Hilary Clinton would be a MONUMENTAL and otherwise horrible mistake. She would have innocent blood flowing far more than already is with abortion. She's an ungodly woman who has an immoral agenda, and it is to make things worse off for America spiritually. I also think other world leaders would not take America and the woman president as seriously and straightforwardly as a man. Sending a woman to handle men like Putin? I don't think that'll work. That's my honest to God opinion.

Is America ready to elect a woman? Yes. I think enough people realize that a given woman with the right qualities can lead as well as a given man with similar qualities.

Will it happen in 2008? No. The first woman president will be someone who worked her way up the ladder. Not someone who rode into the national spotlight on her husbands coattails. Furthermore, Clinton has too much scandal surrounding her. She isn't the RIGHT woman. I'm a Democrat, but I won't vote for THAT Democrat.

I feel that America is most definitely ready for a woman president! Women can run a household and the White House. Mrs. Clinton has already been in the White House and she has experience. We are all of the same capability, so why cant a women step out to the plate? I honestly feel that women are ready to run the White House!

I honestly feel that gender is not an obstacle. Competency is. Yes women have been suppressed, but so what? What is the point of democracy when ignorance is celebrated? We already have a bunch of feminists that are going to vote for Hillary in 2008 cause she has a vagina. The chauvinists are not voting for her because she doesn't have a penis. Basically who cares whether the person has a vagina, penis, or both? As long as they do a good job, not like this moron that we're passing off as a president. And why does one have to be prepared for a woman president.. if i had to choose between Bush or a female Ronald Reagan, i would choose the female Raegan, but then again give me a female Bush and a male Raegan, i would choose Raegan. We are already in no shape to vote, our country is already completely ignorant... Americans are quickly becoming stupider and fatter. Basically, if this country is incapable of looking past gender whats the point of voting, we already are voting for the wrong reasons... add another catalyst... and whats left? A bunch of Rosie O'Donnells

i don't think this country is ready for a woman president. i feel that she wouldn't be taken seriously by some other countries or even by the men here who think the only place for a woman is in the home. i don't think women are as capable(at least not the one running) as men to be leaders because women get bitchy-emotional-etc. i just don't think it's the right time.

Women are certainly capable leaders, sex is not a leadership characteristic.

However, this country will not elect a woman to the office of President in 2008, certainly not the current female front runner. This is not only, or even primarily, due to the fact that she's a woman, but a question of her policies and her politics.

I think we will almost certainly see a black or hispanic President before a woman is elected to the role and I believe that is a strong possibility in 2008.
