Because we see writing as a task and we do it as quickly as possible to get it over with. Women on the other hand actually think about the merits of actually writing something that someone else could read.

As a guy myself I must agree with you. Most guys I know write badly. I can write well if I write in pencil OR with a gel ink pen. Otherwise it looks not so pretty. But I think that this isn't necessarily the fault of man but the fact that people write less and less each generation. I hardly ever write things out except for memos, signatures, notes. Everything else I do is on my computer using a word processor.

I believe that's more of a stereotype than a fact, but I don't know. It might be something to do with being lazy?! I'm not exactly sure... good question. :]
