The explanation that underlies everything else is the way human beings evolved. We are optimized to survive in an environment where short-term decisions are the most important ones: we have to catch the game and avoid becoming game ourselves, both of which require quick, intuitive thinking with no time for calm deliberation.
Another part of our genes compels us to hoard resources against what were, for most of our existence, frequent episodes of starvation and other disasters. That's why we love to eat more than we need for the moment (or kill more game, chop more wood, engage in more mating, etc), which enabled our ancestors to survive those periods but which turn us fat today in those countries where food shortages no longer occur.
So we are stuck with being naturally acquisitive and aggressive, unable to emotionally process the need to plan far into the future even though intellectually we - most of us, anyway - can see what's coming. It's a classic Greek tragedy, only one which will engulf the whole world if we keep sitting on our hands and lying to ourselves about how it can't possibly be true.

Ms Nikki, Some of these scientist are nothing but profacing their theories.
Science's first theory is... Earth originated from Sun, lets believe it. Earth cooled and we all live here now.
Year after year science theory is evolving about everything. No definite answers or proof.
If Global Warming theory is true then the Science first theory is wrong about earth's origin.
Do you know how much CFC do you require to increase the Earth's temp.
These scientist are not looking for other facts like are there any changes in universe or Earth's path and what changes do we have in orbit.
Is it the moon?
This all is political as USA do not endorse the GW sumit recommendation.

Has the world been warming? Yes and there is data to prove that it has been warming over the past 100 or so years. Is this due to human activity? There is no way to tell because there is no absolute solid evidence if it is directly related to humans.

YOUNG LADY YOU NEED TO POLISH YOUR SPELLING AS WELL ...
GLOBAL WARMING IS A NATURAL PHENOMENON THAT IS THE WARMING CYCLE OF NATURAL CLIMATE CHANGE....THIS NATURAL CLIMATIC CYCLE CAN BE DEMONSTRATED TO HAVE EXISTED FOR 100S OF MILLIONS OF YEARS.... THE POLITICIANS HAVE PICKED IT UP AND MADE AN ISSUE OUT OF IT SAYING IT IS ALL MAN MADE ... WHICH IS NOT SO .... CAN MODERN DAY POLLUTION ACCELERATE THE PRESENT WARMING CYCLE WE ARE IN ..... PERHAPS SOME BUT NOT A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT .... THIS PRESENT WARMING CYCLE BEGAN ABOUT 10,000 YEARS AGO WHEN THE ENTIRE NORTH HALF OF THE USA WAS COVERED BY GLACIERS .... THEY STARTED MELTING AND STILL ARE ... WHEN IT WILL SWITCH BACK TO A COOLING CYCLE IS A JUDGMENT AT BEST BUT I WOULD GUESS WITHIN THE NEXT THOUSAND YEARS OR SO....LET'S HOPE THAT AL GORE IS STILL AROUND TO SEE IT AND SEE HOW MISLEAD HE IS .....

The Earth has always (ALWAYS) either been warming or cooling for the last 5 Billion years. Man is alarmed by change, but change has always been there. The grand canyon is an example of erosion, how did that hole happen without change? Do you hear about environmentalist whining about the erosion rate of the Grand Canyon?
If the inventor of the Internet, Al Gore were truly alarmed about Global Warming, why does he fly in private jets, and ride in Auto's? Maybe the truth isn't all that inconvienient?

Mostly because of man's burning of fossil fuels and creation of carbon dioxide. A little because of the sun.

1) deforestation ( increases CO2 to cause green house effect, temperature increases)
2) CFC
3) air pollution (particles trapped heat)
4) thinning ozone layer ( already had a crack!!)
5) forest fire
6) using of electricity (radiation)
many more~~

oh there are several reasons (destruction of the ozone, pollution, cutting down of trees, etc.) that boils down to the greenhouse effect - hot air being trapped around the earth.
