I read somewhere that everybody on the earth could stand on the Isle of Wight.

Quite impossible, if you mean the whole world population at a time. The Isle of Wight has an area of 380 sq km. So you'll need to fit about 17.6 people per square meter in it...

of course they could, they just have to get there and stand in the county. but if you mean stand on the isle of wight at the same time, i don't quite think so, the surface area is not big enough

It is simply the total area divided by the space a person occupies when standing upright.

Theoretically the answer is YES. However, with the exponential growth in world population it will soon become FALSE.

But, Mother nature may make it TRUE again by some global catastrophe.

Then again, man could make it TRUE if a nuclear war occurs.

I think it is true, but the way I heard it, it was that everyone could fit inside the city limits of Jacksonville FL (Largest city in USA by landmass)
