My daughter will be 6 months old on monday. When she was 4 months old she was babbeling alot. And then last month it just stopped? I thought maybe it would come back again but it has not really. She has not completley stopped babbeling just slowed way down and now only does it a little bit. It just seems like a drop off compared to what she was doing before. She is meeting all her milestones and is even ahead on some of them. But this babbeling thing has thrown me for a loop. Any ideas on whats going on?

I noticed the same thing with my dtr, I think is what it is is that they are so aware now of everything around them now that they are pre-occupied with their surroundings. My dtr also 6 months has started to get back to her babbling, especially when she is eating. I engage her in conversation and then she will go on and on... I don't know if that is the real reason but it makes sense to me. Good luck with this and God bless you!

The babbling is a stage they go through, now that she is older she won't do that as much. She is now ready to start saying words. You can encourage her to say some words now. Like every time you show her something say the word and the word or if you are handing her a toy make sure you tell her what it is. Sometimes you are going to feel foolish but it really will help her later on. I have a two and half year old that is in speech therapy. I am learning how to talk to her with exaggerated words. Like Ball I will say ba ba all ball. She is doing really well. But don't worry about the babbling stopping it just means she is ready to move on to bigger things. It's kinda sad you miss the baby cooping and babbling.

The babbeling will gradually go away and then after a while the talking will start. My daughter started talking at 10 months. It will happen. Just keep encouraging her.

It seems to be like 'calm before storm'! Maybe, she is getting ready for a take off towards the next stage and may come out with some basic words such as mom, dad and so on!

I don't think there's anything amiss. It could be just a phase she's going through. You could try to buy some colorful toys or some with music and show it to her to try to stimulate her babbling.
Babies learn through imitating their main caregiver. Try to talk to her more often, doesn't matter what. tell her what you're doing, about your day, etc. Sing to her too. Carry on a conversation with her, and look at her. If she responds with ohs and ahs, acknowledge them with yes and that's right etc.
Well, you get the picture. Congrats on your baby!

Every child developes in every area at different times. I always read to my daughter and talked to her like a normal adult, no goo's and ga's. She developed quickly and started talking at a very young age. I noticed that when i did certain things, like reading to her and talking to her face to face, she would make more noises and get excited. I would just pay attention to her reactions and see what excites her and makes her "babble" and just do this more often. Good luck!

Babies will stop and start many behaviours. There is nothing to worry about.
