Turmeric, a very common ingredient in prepared mustard, gives it the yellow coloration, more so than the mustard seed itself (minus turmeric, mustard is more brown). Ketchup is derived from finely processed and cooked tomatoes, hence its red coloration.

No. Mustard seed has a yellow extract.American Indians knew this.Why don't you?
As for ketchup....I think the tomatoes take care of the reddish color.

Mustard seeds are yellow when crushed. Tomatoes are red. And then there's the food coloring.

no, the pigments in each turn them tht color.

(and not pigments like in paint. i mean like spices, etc.)
