One of my favorite gifts to give for a shower is very little cost. I buy gift bag at the "everythings a dollar store" then buy lots of under $1 items or just a few dollars items that parents don't think to buy..or add to the wish list. Take Walmart for example: Baby nail clips, trial size lotions, baby wipes, shampoo, etc. (these are generally found in the beauty isle in a big bin), single bibs, baby spoons, bulb syringes (great for clearing nasal secretions), Gas relief drops, pacifers, single bottles, bottle brushes, etc. You get the picture. You can get a nice bag full of items for around $10 to $15. I got the same items when I was having a shower and you much appreciate the thoughtful person who gave you gas drops when you need them about 3:00 a.m.

Buy essentials like baby lotion, baby wash, a tub of wipes, q-tips, and a tube of diaper rash cream like Desitin. Go to the dollar store and pick up a basket to put everything in. If your budget allows, throw in a pack of diapers. All of those things will be used and the new mom can reuse the basket.

Depends on how much you have. Bibs, pacifier, tylenol, diapers, wipes, anything like that. Also, socks, onesies, a blanket, bottles, bottle brush, washclothes, baby lotion, baby powder, baby soap, teething ring, rattles, a baby book, a teddy bear. Check wal-mart or dollar general, things are sometimes cheaper there. Remember, it's the thought that counts. Your friend will appreciate that you are there.

I was given a really really neat gift. It is called a birthday candle by Lillian Vernon. It was less than $10. It was a unique gift and I love giving it to other Mommy's for their kids. Basically it is a candle that it numbered from top to bottom from 1 through 18. every year you light it down to the number of years the baby is. It is decorated as well. I loved it and I love giving it as well.

How about a cute bib with a funny saying on it, or some cutie socks, and a rattle/toy with a face on it. My babies always loved the toys that had big eyes and a smile. Or go somewhere like Target or another discount store and get a 3 month old outfit for summer. they aren't expensive.

Diapers! They don't go bad. Everyone uses them for their baby.

New parents really appreciate anything.

Also, a really nice thing to do is to bring over a meal. That would not be too expensive and shows that you went to a little extra effort. No sleep or time to cook with a new baby.

99 cent store!! get a basket and fill it with baby hygiene things, wash cloths, nail clippers, bibs, baby shampoo etc., wipes. Clothes is the norm for giving and they grown out of them quickly. These things are what a mom really NEEDS for a baby.

They have cute little infant things at the dollar store for really cheap. Maybe just a pack of diapers and a cute little rattle.

A new parent can never have enough receiving blankets and you can usually find a pack of 5 for $10. It's a cute, yet practical and inexpensive gift.
