It's all over the news today,except for Fox,so you're gonna get hammered by the cons over this.
But,to answer your question,Cheney is the attack dog in the administration.It doesn't matter if their true or verifiable,he makes outrageous statements that are designed to inflame the base and make the opposition look weak.

I don't know about the MEK, but one thing is for sure, the Pan-Arab Secular leaning government of Saddam Hussein would never support Al-Qaeda...

1st - Cheney is not right about Saddam and al Qaeda.
