I'm new too, but I have 4 Tigers and I've noticed mine do it too. When I notice it, it's when one has nosed the other. I've been told they pick at each other and nip and stuff so it may just be like a shock from getting. I'm interested to know the answer to this too.

Barbs are very active, playful and usually not shy at all. One of the more well known traits of the Tiger Barbs is a tendency to "fin nip" on other fish. Long finned species such as Angels and Bettas are especially victimized. this behavior can be avoided if you keep them in small groups (5 or more). In this case they spend most of the time chasing each other around and tend to leave the other species alone.

they are also known to be tank clowns. Antics like shaking or fin flipping is common play.

While they are playfull fish, I would start to worry if this behavior continues as a constant. Nerve problems could be the culprit here.

Keep an eye on your water conditions. be sure the water quality is still up to par.

It sounds like a swim bladder problem. If it is, its extremely difficult to bring a fish back from this state. What you need to do is go to a fish forum and post this in the disease and sickness section of the forum. I will put a link to a good forum. Most likely you will loose these fish as it sounds like they are far gone. :( I am sorry. But this is most likely due to environment and your water parameters/cleaning routine so I would definitely check out the forum to find out what you need to do to get your tank healthy.
