I can understand how some people have drawn conclusions that Iraq pre-war had a direct link to terrorism (I don't agree but understand). What I need help understanding is how some answers conclude that if we did not pursue the war in Iraq that we would all be living under terrorist rule. It seems a bit far-fetched to me. Is this just an over zealous reaction?

It is just part of the repuglican rhetoric, most of what is said about why we went to war has been proven to be incorrect. I do think we must remain diligent at home though. .

I support the war but I do agree with you that saying if we were never involved in the war with Iraq we would be living under terrorist rule is far-fetched. I think it is equally as far-fetched as those who say that if we just left the Muslims and the Middle East alone they would leave the US alone. That was practically our policy before 9/11.
