NO. DiceK can't speak English. He has a translator on hand which the Red Sox is paying for. If Varitek went to talk to Dice-K without the translator, I don't think they are saying anything complicated. I'm sure it's just "signs" discussion which I don't think requires much English to be communicated.
Also if you noticed, when the pitching coach goes to talk to Dice-k on the mound, the translator follows him.

properly, at present, it really is already very solid, yet dice-ok can make it that a lot more advantageous positive. i do not fairly know who Bostons were given contained in the rotation for the playoffs yet, notwithstanding it's going to be difficult to face both way. i imagine it is going to line up like this. a million Beckett 2 Lester 3. dice ok/Buchholz 4 Buchholz/ Dicke ok relying on how Dicke ok does in his next few starts, he will slot contained in the three slot. Buchholz has been strong at present, and as a Sox fan, I believe his pitching now. * also, only a random actuality, an MLB Insider stated that this offseason, Boston plans to tag on Felix Hernandez. It kinda sounds loopy, yet could you imagine the pitching rotation. besides, wish this facilitates.

Most likely. In Japan, English is taught as a 2nd language. The same way we teach Spanish or French. Also, I really don't think the Sox spent that kind of money on a guy they won't be able to carry a conversation with!

Alot of people in Hong Kong speak english , not Japan. I was in both japan and hong kokng for about three months each. And no he does not speak english, but he is taught certain words during spring training and the catchers are taught certain words and phrases to help communicate.

No, he does not. However, I am sure there are some phrases and words that mean something to him as he communicates with his catcher. Veritek is very savvy (can't hit, though) so his handling of the pitchers including Dice-K is just outstanding.
Chow!!

Not right now he doesnt. I know the catcher wears a wristband, like a football quarterback wears. It has simple translations. Like a qb has plays on there and stuff. I dont know if DYceK wears one too, but I know the catcher does.

Daisuke has been very coy so far this year. He specifically doesn't want teams to have too much info on him. He's a sneeky little SOB.
I would estimate that his english is far better than he is letting on.

I have heard he learned a little English. Also, Varitek wears a band on his wrist so he can say some stuff in Japanese.
