I'd say equate (walmart brand) and Digital EPT

I liked the ones from the dollar store. You always want to check more than once, and that way it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg!

They're really all the same. Although I would not go with a digital test - the ones that say "pregnant" or "not pregnant" as there is some grey area. If you go with a standard test, you will see a faint line, even when the digitals would say "not pregnant," if your wife's hormones were low.

I have to go with the cheap dollar store brands. They are very inexpensive, yet very effective. You cannot test prior to the day when you miss your period, but the ones you see online that say "Test 5 days early" are not very effective 5 days early. You are still going to get a lot of false negatives with those - I know I did!

The best expensive ones are the digital ones, that way you don't have to sit and play "is that a faint positive line?" all day long. It's truly a game of torture!

By far EPT. I bought it for myself and the sign barely came through, but it came thru positive. Then, 3 weeks later I miscarried. I took it as a sign, it wasn't the right pregnancy for me. When I bought it again a few months later, clear as day in less than 60 seconds a HUGE + sign showed and it was the best, healthiest pregnancy a mother to be could ask for and I have a beautiful, healthy son to prove it. I trust EPT with my life. :)

I have used several. Brand name and generic. They really are all the same. The one I got for three dollars worked as well as the digital read-out one for $15.

Also, these things can sometimes read a false negative if the hormone levels aren't that high yet... but they NEVER give a false positive.

I used 2 different kinds 2 days before my missed period... the EPT +/- display and the First Response 1 or 2 pink line display. They both showed positive, but the First Response was MUCH MUCH clearer!!! I almost threw the EPT away thinking it was negative... harder to read in my opinion.

FIRST RESPONSE Early Result.

It is one of the most sensitive tests on the market, and can pick up lower levels of hcg (t he pregnancy hormone) in the urine than most of the other over the counter tests, giving you more reliable early results.

Women only? Geez, man - Thats discrimination!!

My fiancee and I just found out we were pregnant 2 months ago and used "First Response" -- It has the highest non-fault rating on the market according to our pharmacist.

Im not a chick, but hopefully this info helps!

Get one with 2 parallel lines- not the plus minus ones.
Also- tell her to test first thing the morning- more accurate.

I liked the digital ones that say pregnant or not pregnant...easier to read than the ones with 1 or 2 lines!!
