Yep - I'm way out here in Montana and everybody has guns. biggest danger is hitting a deer on the highway or a drunk killing you.

I don't feel any safer. Al-Qaeda and Jihadi attacks have actually escalated and increased. They can just kill Americans easier now because we are in Iraq (I value our soldiers lives as much as any other U.S. citizen in this country Their lives are just as important) They have been able to kill another 3,200. Remember Clinton stopping the Millennium attack, and after 6 weeks in office he apprehended all responsible for the Feb 1993 WTC bombing. 9/11 happened on Bush's watch and he still hasn't brought Bin Laden to justice, in fact he disbanded the unit looking for him.
Also, none of the 42 recomendations made by the 9/11 commission have been enacted. They have all been blocked by Bush's administration, and then Bush tried to sell our Port security to the UAE, where two of the hijackers originated and the country that the money went through to get to the hijackers.

Yes.
Yeah, it's in part due to the fact that a lot of the maniacs are locked up in Gitmo, but it's also due to the fact that state and local governments have taken a similar no-nonsense approach over the last two decades.
It could be better than it is but I do feel a lot safer than 20-25 years ago.

Not since Bush and his cowboys have been trying to pick a fight with Iran. They are treading in very deep waters where he or anyone else for that matter, have any business sticking our noses into.
These people have been fighting with each other for centuries. And now what??? Good ole USA is going to smooth things between their squabbles. No one understands those people ways and beliefs and deep convictions when it comes to their religion.
It's none of ours or anyone else's business.
So no...I don't feel safe, not as long as Bush is in office!

Generally yes, but not because of Bush - in fact I think he has made this country somewhat less safe. I feel safe with our police, the FBI, the military and the goodness and smarts of the American people.
That said, we can be hit again. We cannot let down our guard.

I feel safe. Safety is a state of relativity. I've lived in countries where the threat of terrorism is constant. It is impossible to live in total isolation. There were times I felt safer in those area than in South Central LA.

Actually yes I do.
I felt safe after 9/11 too.
For two reasons:
One is that you have a much better chance of getting killed while driving your car than you do of being killed (or having anyone you know get killed) by a terrorist attack.
Two is that terrorists don't go around attacking over and over - it would get to be expected. The reason terrorism works so well, is that they pull off one attack - and then watch the panicked over-reaction for months or even years.
When the US invaded Iraq after 9/11 it played directly into the terrorists plot. We have spent 1/2 trillion dollars, and the lives of thousands of soldiers - not to mention hundreds of thousands of iraqi civilians. The terrorists could not have possibly hoped for more.

Day to day, yes. On the bigger scale, I am concerned for the future. Our president and our troops are so undermined by people who do not understand what we are really fighting for. Too many Americans show the world how un-united we are.
