Remove the battery terminal. Soak them in a baking soda/ warm water bath until they stop boiling. Rinse & let dry. Remove the oxidization from the battery terminals & wire ends. Replace the leads.

I assume you mean it is turning over but it wont start?

Remember you need fuel, fire, and air for the car to start. Fuel could be a bad fuel pump. Dont know if you are carbureted or fuel injected. Fire could be your distributor or any of the ignition components. Air is generally not the problem but check your hoses and PCV valve.

Typically if is not something obvious in a situation like this, it is best to have it taken somewhere. It is easy to nickel and dime yourself to death trying to save money.

Possibly fuel pump. They have no warning.
With your door open or window down, turn your key to the on position, you should hear the electric fuel pump run for about 2 seconds. If you do not hear this, your fuel pump is shot.

can u make your question more broad? like the last guy said it could be the fuel pump. i dont understand the question because it has t turn over to sound like it wants to start i believe u mean its just not firing. first u have to find what u are missing fuel or spark. if missing neither then it will start in a little while (maybe lol) my suggestion would be that if u have to ask such a broad question u should take it to a mechanic

How old is this car? If this battery is more than 3 years old, consider replacing it. The cables are another thing that people don't check and waste a lot of money replacing alternators and starters in a vain effort to fix. Hope this helps. You can check for corrosion of the cables visually. But these aren't that expensive if the car is more than a few years old.

does it turn over good?if it turns over slow, then it cant fire.check the battery,it could have a dead cell,or if its not the battery, check for fire at the plugs and see if its getting gas at the fuel rail.the gas filter could be plugged.
