While there are a lot of moderate priced resteraunts in Sydney (20-30 price range) and some great expensive ones, my wife and I continue to look forward to the food courts and stand up cafes in and around the center of Sydney. There is a great variety of excellent food at modest prices (under 10.00 for a meal) available. We enjoy the expensive digs, but we generally seek out the inexpensive ones, and have never been disappointed by the food quality or price. (As an aside, the most disappointing meal I have ever had in Sydney was at one of the places at The Rocks that has an international reputation. We paid over 70.00 apiece for a meal that came out cold and overcooked. I will neither name the resteraunt, nor return there in the future.) Why pay and arm and a leg for good food, when you can get by for much less, and have a great meal?

King St Newtown and Glebe are great places to find a huge range of inexpensive restaurants that serve good food. In most you don't need to book, if the one you pick is full, there will be an equally good one next door. Browse, check the menus and prices as you stroll up the street.

$20-30 for a meal. My favourite places are the Lowenbrau(in Argyle) and the Prague (in King's Cross), Frisco's (in Woolamaloo), and Fitzroy's (King's Cross). Almost forgot Mcleay's pizza in Pott's point!
