First of all, it isn't always the case. Teens who have unprotected sex and don't get pregnant are rarely invited onto talk shows to talk about it. And married couples who get pregnant the first month or two of trying aren't overly conspicuous, either--unless one is your sister or best friend.
To the degree that it is the case, there are several reasons. First of all, the younger you are, the more fertile you are likely to be. Secondly, the use of several types of birth control can permanently decrease your fertility (those careless teens haven't been exposed to these methods!). Third, there are other things (diseases, accidents, etc.) that can affect fertility that are more likely to have happened to you the older you are.
If you have ever used hormonal birth control or an IUD, you may have unintentionally harmed your fertility. It isn't true of every woman, or probably of most, but it is fairly common.
(And, by the way, moderate amounts of stress do NOT decrease fertility--only serious stress. "Trying" will not decrease the likelihood of getting pregnant.)

I feel the same way. It really does seem like that. I guess it's just all a matter of being lucky or unlucky. You also have to take into consideration that some females are just more susceptible to getting pregnant. It all depends on ovulation and sperm. Some women ovulate more frequently making them more fertile. Some men have more sperm per ejaculation and stronger swimmers. It's just how life is unfortunately.

When you are younger in your teen years and early twenties you are at your highest fertile period, you produce more fresh eggs and at that age you are most likely the most active and fit you are ever going to be without the effort, your body is more healthier at that age so it's easier to get pregnant at that age. As you get older your body goes through changes, you stop producing as much eggs as you used to and your eggs also age and get old too so when your older especially after age 35, you are producing more unhealthy, old eggs and your fertility declines. It's all because your estrogen hormones change with age too. And when you are young you aren't thinking about trying to conceive and stressing over it your body is more relaxed, when you stop trying and stressing over it and just let what will be, be than it will happen probably faster than if you were trying, when trying to conceive my oldest son my husband and I only made love on the weekends because we were both working at the time and pretty much tired during the week so the weekend was the only time we had to spend with each other and we conceive in one month.

It isn't hard when you're trying, it depends on the person, it varies and a lot of teens don't want to get pregnant, but not all of them end up pregnant. It just seems that way when you really want something, like is the grass really greener on the other side?

i dont know why it is so easy for young teens to get pregnant, while women like me have been hoping for a baby for the past year.
maybe its because we worry more and have more stress and responsibilities. stress can affect fertility...
maybe. im not sure.
doesnt seem fair though.

well im only 17 and almost 18 weeks pregnant. I asked my doctor almost the same question and she said that the younger you are the more fertile you are. So that could be the reason.
