The majority of Iraqi Oil Contracts went to China, not the US. The US gets the majority of it's oil from South America.

the US gets very little oil from iraq. most of it goes to europe or east asia.

the US stake in iraqi oil is to drill it, pump it, transport it, maintain the infrastructure related to it. lots of money can be made doing the above.

Actually, we get more oil from Venzuela than Iraq.
