Iraqi democracy won't be like ours. The central government there will have more power than ours does. Theoretically, the 3 factions will deliberate the issues and come to a compromise on policy. Then the policy goes through the Prime Minister, 2 Vice Presidents and the President to be ratified. Personally, I think nobody in the Middle East is capable of governing themselves. They have had every little thing in their lives run by their governments for so long that they can't function without someone telling them what to do. Plus, no faction there can stand to have a rival faction in power. It appears that a 'tribal' mentality exists there. Loyalty is to your home region, not the country as a whole. Without nationalism, I don't think democracy will survive long.

Democracy per se might not work, but that's not the goal. The goal is some form of representative government. A "democracy" is only one type. For example, the US is a representative republic.

If they wanted Democracy they would have pursued it in the past.

But that's not why we are there. Spreading democracy is the bull**** excuse given to the American people to cover up the real reason we are there and that is to control the oil and how it is being paid for. Protecting the US economy.
