Some people have said that they have heard that it makes you really weak then again I've heard that it's no big deal. Just trying to get as many views on it as I can! I have a part time job that I go to in the evenings- just hoping that it won't interrupt that!

Thanks!

possibly a little woosy. But a lot depends on certain factors. Did you get a good night's sleep? Did you eat a good breakfast? And how much do you weigh? If you tend to be on the lighter side, take it easy for awhile afterwards, until your body recuperates.

I've donated blood many times, and as long as you drink a lot of fluids after, and don't overexert yourself you should probably be fine. They will tell you all of the things you should do afterwards, like no heavy lifting or exercise, drink extra fluids, and what to do if you get dizzy. The arm you donate from might become a little sore, but it will go away in a day or so, it just depends on the individual person.

I actually just donated earlier this week, and they couldn't get the needle in my vein the right way in my left arm, and it hurts and I got a bruise worse than the arm that they took my blood donation from.

As for your job, if it isn't too strenous, I think that you should be just fine

Hope this helps!

Giving blood is not only a courageous thing to do, but a very necessary and gifting opportunity to help others. God bless you for your decision. Before you give blood, eat something. I have often given blood in the mornings, and usually, they will ask you if you have had breakfast - a light meal is good and it prevents the "dizziness' that one can feel afterwards. Once you give blood (one pint only), you will be offered juice or some kind of muffin to help rebuild your energy and strength - and you wait about 5-10 minutes while you eat and the nurses will observe your mannerisms. You should be okay to persue whatever you want to do afterwards (except run a marathon). Just know that the initial process is involved. They will complete forms on you and ask you lots and lots of questions. You should know some family history and health background of your parents, grands and siblings. They will ask you if you have ever had 'same sex' or used needles. Some questions may be abhorrent to you and invading, but they need to know. If you have high blood pressure or are on certain kinds of drugs (prescribed or not) they will need and want to know. The moment I was diagnosed with high blood - that ended my ability to give blood. They will take your blood pressure, temperature, etc. If you have any indications of something wrong, they will not allow you to give. (FYI A young woman was being questioned at the time I was, they noticed her arms were full of marks, black spots - indicative of someone who has a crack habit, and even though she told them she was not - they exercised their judgment and caution and did not allow her to give blood.) When it was over - the girl cursed them out and it was determined that she had been on crack. I don't say this to you to deter your desire, but I have given blood for years and I have seen and heard so much. These are just things you'd want to know before hand. Good luck to you.

You will probably pass out and feel like your going to throw up. Not really, just kidding. You should feel normal. After giving blood they usually give you cookies and juice. Some people feel light headed for a little while after however, I have never felt any thing different than normal. Have fun and keep donating.

Because of the outflow of blood after the donating the heart will want to meet up the pace which will make you feel a little weak and dizzy consumption of much fluid will help you a lot.Goodluck

It shouldn't interrupt your schedule too much at all. Some people may experience light headedness but that's about it. I wouldn't fret about it, and enjoy the juice and cookies already! ;D

Btw, Thanks for giving blood! I think everyone that can should donate blood. There is always a shortage.

Maybe slightly lightheaded but nothing major. They'll give you a sugary drink and a chocolate biscuit when you're done which helps bring your blood sugar levels back up.

If you want to feel really messed up, have an alcoholic drink or a cigarette straight afterwards. Wooohoooo.

You may feel a little lightheaded, but after you're done, they have juice and and snack for you and have you sit until you feel comfortable to go about your activities. After you're finished, you can't drink/smoke/lift heavy objects for a few hours.
