"Business Degree" is a bit of a generalization, like saying "Engineering Degree". Under the umbrella of business there are a large number or different specializations including (but certainly not limited too) business administration, accounting, marketing, economics (considered a social science at some schools), operations, finance, organizational behavior (business pyschology), etc. Programs will vary significantly by school, for example Case Western Reserve University offers programs in Management, Accounting and Economics, however, Management majors may select focus areas such as finance or organization behavior.
As for what it can do for you...that really depends on what you want to do. I know people with "Business Degrees" who made $80,000 (midwest dollars) right out of college and I know people who made $30,000.
