Most the candidates have day jobs as Senators, Governors, and the like, and do not get a salary.
Federal law requires that campaign money be spent on campaign expenses, such as advertising, travel, and staff salaries. Sometimes you'll see them give donations to other candidates (usually through a PAC rather than directly from their campaign fund).

i do no longer think of so. money is an illustration of help. If human beings want to donate because of the fact they think of one particular candidate will help them, then they might desire to be allowed to--that's there money. the government should not be telling every person how they might desire to/shouldn't spend their very own money. -----replace----- "Shoulnt all applicants be on an excellent keel?" No, they are no longer and that they under no circumstances would be, regardless of in the event that they are made to have a similar volume of money. Canidates are distinctive human beings. some are extra applicable fundraisers, others are extra applicable organizers, audio equipment, etc. some have extra applicable concepts or extra applicable rules, vote casting information, preparation, reports, etc. money (and the skill to enhance it) is barely one part of a marketing campaign. each and every thing a man or woman has executed of their total existence is a element. applicants in basic terms are not on an excellent keel because of the fact they are distinctive. there is not any longer something incorrect with that--and extra importantly, no thank you to rigidity it.

Most of the money goes for advertisements in the media and to ' run' the campaigns, planes, busess, trains, campaign office expenses.
The people who generally run have enough of their own money to live , they can't use funds raised for that purpose.

Most of it ends up in the pockets of the television networks, who by the way, have greatly benefitted from recent communications acts.

Good question.
It's a tragedy that a politician's 'popularity is measured by the size of his/her wallet.
Money = Intelligence.
