Wow... there is a lot of religious people out here... i guess i am asking this question because in my own mind i have doubts as to whether or not i have adequate reason to live... i am an atheist and i don't believe in any god/s nor do i love anyone nor do i have a job nor do i see a purpose for myself....

just a little something else to think about ^^

I guess i refuse to accept jesus or god as being anything as i think they are merely another reason for people to disagree with each other, as all religions appear to me as just a set of laws and rules about how people can not like each other, i.e.: you are not allowed to accept gays, and in more recent displays from terrorists... their religions enable them to blow us all up and consequently go to their understanding of "heaven". yes i am an avid hater of religions.

Is this an exam question or something, same question over in psychology and sociology.

I live to serve others, whether family or friends or my fellow creatures on earth.

I advocate for people who are vulnerable, the disabled, children, abused men and women.

I write and I've taught, I think both are in the same vein, education.

I want to be thoroughly used up when I die so I can pass the torch onto the next generation who wants to serve as well.

NO matter what we do , president or primary school teacher, ceo or janitor, parent or child , we all serve the world, in our own ways whether we recognize that fact or not.

The purpose of a persons life is that thing or desire that burns deep within you. Often times people will not talk about those desires due to pressures from the peer group they are in.
It may be that you love working on cars, writing, landscaping, painting or a thousand other things.
I am a Christian Preacher, writer and Evangelist. It is my love of God and Jesus Christ that puts a song in my heart. It is my desire to help others through my writings that drives me and offers me satisfaction.
For me the Meaning of Life is comprised of three things.
Purpose. Meaning and Fulfillment.
May the Lord guide you to yours.

FYI-my church is all inclusive, even gays. That's cool though, I understand where you're coming from.

But the answer you probably are looking for is "curiosity." I wake up and go to work and live everyday because I want to know what's going to happen. That's why kids don't want to go to bed at night, they're afraid they might miss out on something.

You are miles ahead of most as far as the injuction `Know Thyself` is concerned. I envy you because you sound young and it took me at least fifty years to reach your position.
All you need to do is to re-focus from negative thoughts and emotions to positive ones. It might take some effort to break some of those habits, and maybe not. I am willing to bet on your success. You could get there super fast if you study the Law of Attraction as taught by Jerry and Esther Hicks. Enjoy!

I'm so sorry your so lonely, and you have no real faith in anything or a job or family. I live for myself to enrich my life, I tried to live a good life. I treat people how I want to be treated, and try to be as honest and considerate as I can. I am human and I have flaws just like everyone else, I do the best I can.

good Q.

My answer is

I regard the life as the play ground where we enjoy everything god or universe gave and gives now.

so we dont have the purpose.

when I love my mom , I JUST LOVE her.there s no purpose for loving we cant help loving.

When children play there s no purpose, just joy.

if we ask the children why you play , they cant answer.

So our homework ( not purpose) will be how well we can play.

If we are alchoholic ,or mentally ill ,we cant play well.

If we are greedy and jealous , we cant play well.

to PLAY WELL, EMBRACE THE LIFE WITH JOY ,

THATS our grace to be appreciated .

Wow. your additional comments blow my mind. I am a christian and that's probably why I feel I have a purpose for living and you don't. Pure joy only comes from Christ and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. If you do that, I bettcha you'd find many purposes for wanting to live.
