The Mayans and Nostradamus did not believe the world will end in 2012. That is just part of a crude hoax by some recent charlatans. nostradamus wrote a quatrain about the seventh month of 1999, and it was quite wrong, as always. Sir Isaac Newton was brilliant in physics, but he also pursued studies of "ngao si". He did not use anything quantum, because that was not discovered until the 20th Century. I think you are reading too many websites that promote amateurish hoaxes. Sir Isaac Newton, Nostradamus, the Mayans, etc. knew absolutely nothing about when the world will end.

It's another whacked out rumor. The Mayan calender for the old era runs out then and they never put the calendar together for the new era together. They had such a great view of the future that the couldn't predict their own extinction. I have a Barnes & Noble calendar that rnus out in Feb 2008. Should I be preaching that world will end then ?
Nostradamus' predictions are crap. They are poems that people stretch to fit what they want to. Of all the ditty he wrote, people cite the 50 or so that seem to fit something but ignore the others thaqt are gibrish. If Nostradamus was so good, we would have read his poem and emptied the twin towers before the tragedy.

Dear old Nostradamus got one right, the death of a French king in a jousting accident. Lance through the eye. We are still waiting for the next. Trouble is that one was during his lifetime and he just may have done a bit of editing. He wrote so many that at least one has to be right, so maybe that was it.
World will end in 2012? Just like it did on 31 December 1999 when all the computers were going to go spla. But didn't. Worry about 16 March 2880 when asteroid 1950DA looks like hitting the Earth.
Mayans? What did they know? Their kings used to cut certain parts of their anatomy to prove or demonstrate something or other. Does not sound like bunch of big-time intellectuals to me. More like a load of irrelevant superstitious whatsits.

hey, the world will not end in our life time. and probably not end by the time humanity is spread throughout the universe. the only way our planet is going die is when it dies naturally, which may not even be for millions of years. and according to your statement about notradamos, his prediction of 2012 was not the end of the world, it was the end of world war three. get your facts straight.

I don't believe that the world will end but feel a major catastrophe may occur. In any case, when any individual dies, the world ends for him/her.
