Aking for a passport is being racist?
Doesn't it mean the Italian goverment wants to reduce violence?

People who say we are racists are just jealous. Every country, every nationality has it. So, to say Italians are is just ridiculous. Just because we have reached 2007 people think the whole world has adapted to accepting people for who they are. Unfortunately the years have changed, but the people havent. Xx

Well stories like this don't help:
Last year the Ivorian international Marc Zoro, who plays for FC Messina, a serie A Football club in Italy was brought to tears because of the racist insults he suffered during a match between the two teams. At the end of the match the president of Lazio Mr. Claudio Lotito, went to the dressing room and apologized to Zoro for the bad behaviour of the fans of his club. The same insult happened last weekend when his club played Inter Milan. The Italian FA fined them 25,000 euros. Afterwards Marc Zoro, said, " I have been playing in Italy for three years and I see this happening almost daily, particularly when I'm in the north or the center of the country, playing against clubs like Lazio, Roma, Verona and Treviso. It happens less in the south of Italy, but I have problems all the time. All this makes me really sad. It's not easy for me and it hurts. I don't deserve this, " he told BBC Sports.

Racism isn't limited to Italian fans alone. There are going to be some Italian fans who are and who aren't. Just the same, there will be English fans who are and aren't, French fans who are and aren't, Spanish fans who are and aren't, and so on.
So, I can't tell you why Italian fans are racist or why anyone is racist for that matter, but I'm sure there are a number of different reasons why people will be that way. But don't worry, Juventina, not all Italians are racist, thank goodness!

Its sad that comments like these are being made. Racism is EVERYWHERE! Anyone remember the spanish coach who made those racist comments against Henry??
When I went to Italy, I found everybody to be really kind and helpful, and they were just generally very nice people.
Airport staff ask everyone for their passports, regardless of their color, does that make them racist? I dont think so. Racism still definitely exists, but if somebody asks you for your passport, that doesn't prove the person is racist.

HOW IS ASKING FOR A PASSPORT GOING TOO PREVENT VIOLENCE?? that's the whackest **** i've heard today. is that an excuse to hide the fact that Eto'o can't even feel comfortable playing in Italy. *** he plays in SPAIN one of the most racist place for football fans. if he can play there why can't he play in Italy? simple as that. Every race is racist...there's no exception. it's life. live and learnnnnn.
who knows. maybe we're taking the article in the wrong way. but that's not a reason for people to call him STUPID. i don't understand some of the people on here sometimes.

I think people from all countries can be racist, not necessarily people from just one...
but I have heard a lot of stories about italians. But that doesnt mean theyre all like that. :X
If only we could all live in harmony..
btw, that zoro story... ARGH! THAT IS JUST SAD. How DARE they be that rude to him? thats ridiculous. anyone who brings him to tears deserves to just rot in hell.
and yeah.. it does tend to be in the more northern part of europe. people in the more southern regions are less racist apparently. my friend is half italian, his mom is from naples and she and her entire family is SO sweet. none of them have a racist bone in their bodies (if they did, they wouldnt really like the fact that she married a portugues).. but they say that people from rome and above tend to be more racist. and the central ones like the ones in siena and lazio and those areas.
i think its because southerners are just more mediterranean... the northern ones most of the time i dont even think are italian.. because theyre so light. eh. i like my southern italians, personally. (with exceptions obviously)

No one said anything about the Italians being racists, but since u want an example! here are two!!
http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2006/07/france_angered.php
read the first story of the first article, its a short story
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=272310
read the reason why Eto'o doesn't wanna play for an Italian club! at the end of the article!
Juventina ok forget about the second article...what about the first?
and we all know how famous Eto'o is , i don't think he would say something like that unless he felt the need to say it...
@why the hell did i get 2 votes down by 2 stupid users? i didn't say the Italians are racists! Juventina wanted an example and i gave her one! the first one is clearly a racist remark! u people are weird!
thank u juventina lol

Wouldn't that make us all racist people? I mean the fact of just supporting the team we go for doesn't mean people are racist...

Any country you go to you will be asked for your passport sooner or later. if italy DIDN'T ask for them, they'd be criticized for lack of security. now that they DID, they're racist. what next?
