Drama - cos you get to express yourdelf and be mad but you can hide behind your character. I like playing characters that have weird quirks cos it makes it so much more fun. Also in drama you can learn life skills like confidence and how to adress people. What was yours?

This is different. I ran up to my chess coach, Thomas Teter, the #3 rated player in North Dakota when he left there to teach science at my school, and I told him I invented a "perfect defense". He was smiling and said he wanted to see it at lunch.

Lunch came around and I started to get into the new defense, but his pieces developed so fast I couldn't. "You're ruining my defense!" I said as he wiped the floor with my pieces.

"Not much of a defense, then, is it?" he replied with a straight face.

It hit me. Speed and tempo are just as important as thinking clearly.

I have won five tournaments to date, including one speed chess tourney. Thanks, Mr. Teter.
