What are the tradtions associated with food?
What tradtions are not associated with food?
What recipes would you want to share with an american that are associated with this holiday?
I answered this in another area but only 2 responded. Thank you for those that did respond in a previous post.

This lenten season I haven't fasted at all! I will try to remember not to eat meat today. Since I don't eat much meat regularly giving it up today seems futile, but I will try to get myself to go to mass.
The thank you for the empana recipe, the vegetarian pumpkin kibbeh sounds good. I love pumpkin; its not just for Thanksgiving. I would very apprreciative if you could mail me the recipe. Please please.... thank you for those who have participated and those who soon will.
Growing up my mother made a special Easter Bread similar to challah bread, meat pies, sweet pies, colored eggs, leg of lamb with roasted potatoes with the lamb.. aahhh heaven for the taste buds okay.. that was my contribution!

Good Friday: we have vegetarian food no meat or sweets...the most famous thing that day is falafel or Kibbeh with pumpkin instead of meat and fish
Saturday at noon, we can go back to eating meat and anything we want cuz then the Lent would be over
Sunday: It all starts with a egg hunt we hide the colored eggs and chocolate eggs in the house or the garden if the weather is nice and the kids go look for them.
Then we break each other's Eggs (notice I said eggs not balls) and the one who break the most wins
We eat chocolate eggs, chocolate bunnies
Lunch is with the family and it has lots of meat
Monday: the feast continues, we usually eat out, and I forgot maa3moul, the recipe:

Edit:
Pumpkin Kibbeh is pretty easy, below is a link for the recipe...you can stuff it with spinach and onion and chickpeas...but sometimes I make it into paddies like veggie burgers without the stuffing just the pumpkin and bulgur mix and fry it in oil and eat it like a burger

Hello.......
Almost all the traditions are associate with food..
That happens everywhere, and in all the cultures.
From centuries human beings have joined and celebrated with food all the events.
The battles..the religious ceremonies...the weddings...even the burials. Is a way to feel surrounded. Human beings cant be alone..
Today....I'm making a tuna pie called EMPANADA GALLEGA
I make mass with flour, baking powder, salt, oil, and warm milk. divide it in 2 portion and stretch each of them . Put one in a dish and keep the other till the end.
FILLED
3 tuna cans
4 eggs
200gms gruyere cheese
2 onions,
1/2 sweet pepper
spices...salt...
tomato sauce.
Fry onions cut thin in a little of olive oil...also the sweet pepper.. When ready, add the tuna, spices, salt, .Take that out the fire and add the beaten eggs, and the cheese in pieces.
Put all on the mass at the dish, and cover with the other half I have kept.
Close all the edges and put in the oven for 30 minutes.
That's all. it's very tasty.
Enjoy it
EDIT
Smutty.....not lunch time here yet.....and I can reply.......I have my Empanada Gallega just in the oven right now...Come and share it with us..You're welcome.
