I don't think it is. If your baby is hungry, they need to eat! As long as you can't see the breast, i don't see why ppl are making such a big deal about it.

I agree, as long as you're discreet about it.

i think of it is irrelevant. having pronounced that, you will desire to no longer deliver a toddler to type - it is not undemanding to the different pupils to have a crying new child as a distraction. They paid training and are there to study. the two wait a semester for sophistication or get your toddler into daycare. the international does not supply up because of the fact somebody had a new child - attention is going the two procedures. Nursing in public is positive as long because of the fact the guy isn't distracting and it is in a private place. no one i understand desires to be a spectcle at a similar time as nursing, it is a private element. A college room isn't an perfect place for a toddler, nursing or no longer. or merely purchase a breast pump like all different working mom.

When I was young and stupid, you know, before I had kids, I could not believe women would do it. However, after having five, there are just times you have to feed the baby. I don't think it's appropriate to have it all hanging out there for the world to see, but babies are usually just happy to eat under the cover of a blanket. When we had our first, and we would visit the in-laws, whenever I needed to feed him, my mother-in-law would rush me to a back room to take care of it.

One time, though, my father-in-law came over to see the baby and I was sitting on the couch feeding her. I was covered up with a blanket and everything was going just fine. He's not always the brightest of the bunch and decided he wanted to look at the baby, so he came over and grabbed the blanket and pulled it clean off. There was the baby and my breast, clear as day. I don't think I've ever seen him turn that color red before. It was pretty embarrassing for everyone.

I agree. If it's ok for women to walk around with their ta-ta's hanging out, then why can't a mother feed her hungry child? Anyways, usually they use a small blanket to cover the nipular area, so I don't see the big deal.

EDIT to respond to Shelia L: Not all women have the option to pump. A good friend of mine breastfeeds. Her daughter is 4 months now and they have never successfully gotten her to eat from a bottle. She just doesn't like it. So she has no choice but to breastfeed when they go out.

It is totally fine!
If you don't like it look the other way.
I see women exposing their breasts all the time trying to be sexually attractive. Everything but the nipple. Thats gross. LOL
A baby feeding at the breast is getting nourishment. Something we have to have to live!
Its a basic right.

For the person that said pump and put it in a bottle... why don't you get a life.
Many moms choose not to use bottles at all. It is less to clean and worry about and there is NO chance of nipple confusion. And no chance of interfering with your milk supply.

Good Luck to all the moms.

As long as their isnt over exposure of the breast it's fine. I mean people expose more sometimes with certain outfits than a breastfeeding mother might. If the baby needs to be fed, it should be able to be fed in public.

It's not unappropriate.
The baby is hungry - that's how they eat.
It is not different than a bottle.
People are just stupid.
I nurse my daughter in public, I take great care to cover up and not to flash anyone.
I don't see the big deal - women go around ALL the time with their boobs practically all exposed - with no purpose.
Breastfeeding mothers have a purpose with their breasts. To give their babies the best nourishment possible.

I have breastfed all 4 of my babies in public, its the natural thing to do. I have had people be rude to me about it and ask me to leave and such but i disreguard them. If my baby is hungrey i am going to feed them, if I can find a lil corner where i can be more discret i will do so, but i wont go out of my way to satisfy the comfort of other people when my children are happy.

I totally agree. When you go to a beach on holiday, the place is full of topless women. If you open a newspaper you see boobs. I don't understand why anybody has a problem with it. I think it's to do with the misconception that boobs are just sexual playthings for men! I breastfed mine in public and I wasn't flashing them to anyone.

Anyone who thinks this is inappropriate, should just stay home, it is perfectly ok and natural, and has always been, a baby has to eat when he/she is hungary no matter where or what time, if you go to any kind of poorer country, you see it all the time and they don't even try to cover theselves up, and nobody thinks anything of it. so I think it is totally appropriate.

Breastfeeding is a natural process. It has been done for centuries and was the ONLY source of nutrition for a newborn and infant. How sensitive our society has become to "hurting other's feelings" and going out of our way to not do something that will offend someone at the cost of our own convenience. BREAST FEED AWAY!
