No. Those of us here in NY consider that location a graveyard now. A fitting memorial should be there. Paving it over and building a new commercial building is not my preference.

If they had rebuilt the towers, they would have ended up looking markedly different anyway because the entire structure of the buildings would have been redesigned.
Plus, i dont think a lot of survivors and relatives/friends of the victims would necessarily want to see the towers rising from the ground again - it would just bring back too many bad memories.
In terms of safety features, what can you do? Forcefields, while possible, are still hundreds of years away due to the cataclysmic amounts of energy required which we simply do not know how to produce at the moment.
Metal/concrete armouring would probably increase the weight of the building by about 10 times, meaning it would probably sink into the ground due to the weight. It probably wouldnt work anyway, plus if the structure was compromised, with more weight, there is more chance of the thing falling over - and hard as well.
OR, you could use AA guns, but can you imagine a sky scraper with a couple of huge cannons attached to it? It would look pretty freaky to say the least...
Plus, who's to stop a terrorist from using the guns themselves??
No, the best safety feature would be to stop any attack on the building before it has even began.

The original towers were very well designed.
They both withstood the impact of a jumbo-jet each, hitting at hundreds of miles an hour.
Any structure is going to have trouble coping with the super-inferno heat from all the jet fuel, yet each stood up for a considerable time.
There could be room for improvement in fire escape measures.. I don't know. It seems most of the people who were trapped were by the super heat of jet oil in the corridors and toxic smoke. I can't see any way past that problem (jet oil) with any future skyscraper building other than emergency rope ladders to be rolled on outside.

I agree but, no matter what safety features are added they will
find a way around them. Every person from Iraq should be given an ankle bracelet to track their every move. Either that
or ban any and all access to the US.

In Malaysia, there is a twin tower ( tallest building in the world ) that has a bridge linking the two at the 60th? floor. Build the twin tower with bridges every 10th floor. In an emergency, its possible to run to the other tower to escape Osama's madness.

Disagree. Many people losed loved ones that day, its something no-one will forget rebuilding the towers would be a permanent visual reminder.
