Everyone deserves the respect and benefit of the doubt.

Problem is, Bush had that, and when questions were asked, it's been shown that he's willing to lie to the American people and abuse that trust.

He's long since squandered that respect.

President Bush does deserve respect. While he is holding the highest political office in our nation he should be respected. How many of you out there would seriously want the responsibility & stress that goes along w/ being president? God Bless America, President Bush & our Military.

Just like parents teach their children...respect is earned. It used to be that the office of the President automatically earned the respect of the people, but the last few decades have gone a long way to change that. The candidates showed us reasons that our respect may not be warranted, and the people have gotten to a place where they question much of what they are told.

Respect is not something that shuold be freely given, it should be earned. During his presidency, Bush has only done things to lose my respect.

Also, I wonder how many of the people defending him had no problem with the Clinton Impeachment, even though it was over a trivial matter.

No - to deserve respect means you have done respectable things. He hasn't done enough to deserve my respect - just the opposite.

I respect the OFFICE of the presidency.
There is a difference. I can't trust Bush or believe him. He has yet to earn my respect. All I owe him is courtesy.

He is a mass-murdering coward. Only the scum of the country (his enablers) respect him.

Yes, from good Americans, liberals don't respect anyone or anything so you can't count on them to respect the leader of the country, unless he's a commie supporter like Jimmy Carter

He deserves the same treatment as any other person, no special respect just because he's president.
