Before DNA evidence more or less trashed the concept of race, Egyptians were classified as a Hamitic people, unlike the Arabs who are Semitic. The Hamitic people comprised the Egyptians, Nubians (Sudanese), Abyssinians (Ethiopians), Somalis and Masai (inhabitants of Kenya and Tanzania). We do know that Ancient Egyptian language was similar to Coptic, a non Semitic language, which is still used in the Ethiopian Christian Churches. In 400 BC a Greek historian described them as a black woolly headed people, but some say he confused them with Nubians. It is quite clear that ancient Egyptian culture was a product of Africans

Here is a good web site showing the migration of the human race out of Africa and populating the world. Looking at this it is impossible to argue that the "Black" people of the world have anything in common except living where the sunlight is intense.

In actuality the human family is made of of *******, Mongoloid and Caucasoid types. Every human on this planet is some combination of these three. Black like African or Afro American or even white is not a type.

There is no doubt that Ancient Egypt was an African civilization. Indeed the word Egypt (Black burnt skin) means
black. Check out the link for additional information on this
and other related subjects. Of course we are speaking about
the time before Africa was overrun by the Caucasians.
There is only one race, the human race.

Enjoy and have a pleasant day.

The best clue we have as to what ancient Egyptians looked like is in the archeological evidence. The tomb engravings do not show MOST Egyptians as black, but there's some including some Nubian slaves.

Life masks found on mummies are rare, but give the best representation of their actual features. Take a look at the one of Tutankahem sometime. It won't give you skin tone, but you can tell whether there is more Middle Eastern or African traits in him. I would think Middle Eastern myself since I have never seen a man with African ancestry with a hook nose like Ramses II.

there have been black Pharaohs (from the Kushites who conquered Egypt) at distinctive factors in Egypt's history, that's a actuality, however the way they chanced in this distinction replaced into because of the fact the black human beings have been depicted in yet differently from the indigenous Egyptians, tremendously the black women who have been given diverse facial expression in portray and sculpture (i think of it replaced into around the mouth area). The Egyptians have been unquestionably no longer white, yet have been a brown complexion and distinctive in valuable factors from the black Kushites (the widespread-day Sudanese). i think of they look Moroccan. So there have been ameliorations however the black Kushites have ruled Egypt and are a element of Egyptian history.

Egypt has been around a lot longer than most civilized localities. For each passing generation the mix keeps evolving. The skin color may vary according to when the mixture has been altered. What is was in 6,000 BCE is not what it is today.

The Egyptians (actually born in Egypt) I've worked with have not been black (and I've worked with a few)...more the typical Middle Eastern features...but not even so much that. I'm sure there are darker skinned Egyptians given the location (it is located in Africa), but not 'black'.

The name of Egypt refers to the color of the soil which, due to sediments deposit by the Nile, is black in most of the Nile valley and delta. Skin color in Egypt varies from black through the 'colored' region to north European white. The majority of the population, though, are similar in complexion to the Indians.

PS: Contrary to your comment, Egyptians are not of the ******* race, they are classified as Caucasians, however their skin tone varies.

Here's the thing: We don't know what race Ancient Egyptian really were.
1. Alexander the Great conquered Egypt and his troops mixed with the Egyptians of that time, changing their ethnic make up
2. The Ottomans (Turks) mixed with them during their empire, again changing the ethnic compound further.

Modern day Egyptian are more similar to Turks than ancient Egyptians because of immigration..
