you are faced with people who thinks that you are a criminal, perhaps from suspicions/gossips/rumours. those who think this about you are those you thought were your friends. you want to stop these thoughts being forever stamped in their minds. you know these rumours/gossips/suspicions are not true.
1) would you approach the matter by directly telling them that it is not true or just ignore it and let them continue to think these thoughts about you?
2) by confronting these people and letting them know that whatever they thought is not true, will you be thought of as a criminal minded person before the finger is pointed towards him he tries to justify himself that he is clean?

It obviously bothers you or you wouldn't have asked. I would recommend changing inviroments if possible. If not soon - then I'd start working toward it. If it is a scenario that will just follow you than I recommend accepting that people are going to always have some dam opinion of what they think is acceptable! People are going to think some petty crap over every other person out there all the time. It could be about anything! I just wouldn't give a dam if I was you ! I'd also say if you can't move on to another work place or whatever it is- work on not letting there opinions bother you. Associate with others that don't seem to have that bias over you so that you have a little of a support system. You may be letting guilt take the best of you. If you had did something in the past or not you need live for the now that you know your innocent.

I used to feel so low that I gave up on college (because I could never pass). I felt so disappointed in myself all the time over that. I felt everyone probaly thinks this or that about me. I felt so ahamed that I had gave up. Anyways, one day I thought to hell with it ! They can all kiss my butt. I'll go back to my old job and live the best I can afford. I stopped worrying about tomorrow and began thanking God for my things he has gave me each - today. I wasn't going to allow other peoples "opinions"or expectations determine my happiness any more.

If I considered these people friends, I would confront them in a calm way and tell them that you've heard some rumors going around about you and you just want them to know who you really are what you are about. I think head on and talking about it is the best way to handle it. Not only does it tell your side, but it also makes them aware that their gossip has gotten back to you. It will do you all some good to confront it. Good luck and remember that if they are true friends they will believe you and apologize for the gossip. If they continue, it's time to find some better friends who will get to know you for who you really are and not what others gossip about. Good luck.

It all depends on if the issue is bothering you or not. If the issue bothers you then by all means walk up to the people and say... I know that there is a rumor concerning... and I would just like to state for the record that this is untrue.

Let people know that if they have a problem with you, then all they have to do is to ask you and you will gladly answer them.

As long as you know the truth it doesn't actually matter what people say. However, if you do wish to handle it, I recommend that you try the above.

The best of luck to you in this situation! :)

I try to ignore gossip, rumours, and slanders against me. Already out, they're impossible to stop. Unless it's caught in telling, the perpetrator usually gets away with impunity. And you sound like you protest too much. The best rebuttal after the fact, is knowing me by my actions. Though a gossip can destroy a lifetime reputation with one lie.

Rumors/gossips/suspicions/babbler, backbiter, blabbermouth, busybody, chatterbox, chatterer, circulator, clack, flibbertigibbet, gossipmonger, informer, long-nose, magpie, meddler, newsmonger, old hen, parrot, prattler and so on..............
.............are ALWAYS deriving from people's lack of knowledge.
If necessary you might have to tell the truth and verity behind the 'curtains'. But if you feel that it's not needed, then stay in silence and watch carefully how funny people grab on a thing and endlessly scrutinizing others, turning up side down. You could giggle yourself to see how people endlessly make the meaning they way they want to make the meaning. They derive their own meanings of others from their own misinform assumptions. It's actually very entertaining. ;-)

fleas are not lice--two different creatures. That is like saying can a dog have kittens. Kids can get fleas from animals. Flea bites can cause allergic reactions in kids. Talk to a Vet about the best way to get rid of fleas. I have two dogs that are spoiled rotten and they have had fleas several times in their lives. It is part of owning pets--however, a responsible pet owner will get rid of them as soon as they notice fleas. I have a heart worm med ( cats and dogs) with flea preventative in it. I have 4 crazy kids and one came home with head lice from school so we used RID but there are several homopathic remedies to get rid of lice. Also, I have heard that blowdrying a kids hair thoroughly twice a day will get rid of lice within a week. This is probably way more information than you needed--sorry I am long winded tonight Goodluck.

If you can hold up under the suspecion, I think it would be better to say nothing.. If you do approach them with the true story, it is doubtful if they would believe you or at least the doubt would still be there. Hopefully time will prove them wrong. If not, add new friends in time.
