Spray them with a light coat of clear varathane. When the first coat dries, spray them again. You are essentially plastic coating them.
Do this in a well ventilated room of course.

Perhaps you should change your medium. Switch paper for a soft metal maybe? You can still do the origami designs - you will just have to construct it differently. Otherwise go into your local craft or maybe hardware store and ask if they have any protective spray or the likes that will do the trick. (Hair spray works temporarily) That's all I can think of sorry. Your earrings sound really cool though. Good luck with it!

go to an arts and craft store (ex. Michael's) and ask for a "sealer spray" I don't' remember the name of it but I do know my mom use to do crafts with silk flowers and paper and she use to spray the flowers with some kind of sealer to protect them and also give them some hardening effect. Also she used to have a glue like substance it came in a jar and she brush it lightly on paper crafts to harden them and also make them waterproof, this looks just like glue but dries out clear..

spray it with clear acrylic finish like they use on paintings and drawings to keep pencil from smearing.

You might try covering them with an epoxy coating.

Paint it.
But don't over use it.
Let it dry.
The paint will be hard. The paper will be hard.
