China refuses to allow the UN to intervene in Sudan and Myanmar where their governments are committing genocide against their own people. Not only do the block every attempt by the UN to even condemn such acts, they are giving them money and weapons to do it. If not for China's support, these dictatorships would have collapsed years ago from foreign sanctions. Instead people are systematically being raped and murdered. They're also propping up North Korea and the present disaster in Zimbabwe. Should we really reward such a country by giving the honor of holding the olympics?
(and this is no place for random complaints about the US. It's not expected to hold the olympics anytime soon and hence is irrelevant to the subject)

If China ever sold their foreign dollars the RMB would skyrocket making Chinese exports unaffordable to the world. Why do you think they keep anyway genius?

I'm sure the people of Sudan and Myanmar being raped and dismembered at this very moment are very happy that you don't give a damn about them. You'd much rather complain about the US. Useless idiots. You can't even stay on topic

ti, Eyota- Did you even read the question? This has nothing to do with the US. You must be Chinese, you're sure showing that selective memory

No, the world should not boycott the Olympics out of political concerns. The Olympics, of all places, were designed to be solely concerned with athletic ability from the world over -- without the smudge of politics or cultural differences.
Once countries begin to accept boycotting for Olympic Games, the Olympic Games are no longer relevant, and should be abolished.

Poisoned wheat gluten being fed to the athletes.
Funny -nonsensical English road signs.
Outside, non-cultured, people with a lot of options in their lives, as a point of comparison.
Strange times indeed.

No, the Olympics should not be politicized. It's a shame to punish the athletes who work very hard to get this far. If individual athletes and Americans want to protest than that is their right. You can choose not to attend, not watch on t.v. etc.

If you boycott the olympics due to a political protest then China will call in the debts that people owe them - bankrupting just about the entire world. Collectively the world owes China more than $1 TRILLION.
Follow the money to find out where the power is.

I didn't know the US awarded the olympics to China. I guess the US can boycott anything they want. then all the countries that have problems against the US should boycott any international event the US ever hosts too.
