Need Advice for my daughter, Radiology Tech College?

My daughter is graduating high school in a couple of months. She wants to be a Radiology Technician. There are two year programs out there to get an Associate degree. The Rad Tech program nearest us sounds like a good program, she would be accepted automatically, but the tuition is $12,000.00 a year(24 month program). Does that sound normal? That does include tuition, books, and scrubs. We have qualified for a Fed Grant of 4K, and that amount would just about cover the cost of a year in a 4 year university(per year), but that is a 4 year, and then have to get accepted into a Rad Tech program. Any advice?

It costed me about 35000 to go to rad tech school. I just graduated a year ago, and I am really glad I paid the price, and just went, cuz now I have a good job with advancement oppurtunities. There are cheaper hospital based programs out there, but they are HARD to get into. I tried twice to get into a hospital based program and couldnt you have to be a straight A student who already has a degree in something, and have experience and all that. It was too hard, so I just went to a college that offered it, but it was alot. My school didnt cover the scrubs, or books or nothing. It was 400 a credit for tution alone. It too was a school that I got the associate degree when I was done, and thats just all the more better. The hospital based programs dont give you the degree, just teach you how to be a tech, and get you to the point to pass the board exam to become a tech. I love my job, and reccomend it to anyone thats looking into the healthcare field.

In general, hospital-based programs are cheaper than college programs, and you get better training, in my opinion. My tuition was only around $2000 for the entire two years.
