I can't believe people were saying the sun, our system's sun is actually considerably small compaired to other stars that have been discovered. People need to stop being so narrow minded. It reminds me of when people thought that the Earth was the center of the universe. We are not alone in the universe and there is nothing significant about our solar system that seperates it from the other systems out there.

The Pistol Star is very large in volume. It has a mass about 100 times the mass of the Sun and a radius of about 100 million miles (comparable to the Earth-Sun distance, or about 300 times the radius of the Sun). More massive stars are less dense so take up proportionally more space. Red giant stars (like Betelgeuse and Antares) are very big in volume.When our Sun becomes a red giant in about 5 billion years it will expand to enclose the inner planets. Antares has a radius about 400 times that of the Sun, so is bigger than the Pistol star in volume despite being smaller in mass.

There are 3 different ways you can figure the largest star, by brightness mass or by area.
LBV 1806-20 is the most massive right now.

It has occurred to me that what is known to you is very different than what is known to me. So, for me to answer. I can only do so with the information contained within my domain. The argument may persist because there are no parameters. What may appear brightly in the sky has no bearing on the ten dimensions. A flame of pure hydrogen is invisible to the eye. Does it still have light? Go fish.

Brightness can not determine size. If you have not been there, you can not answer. Your best guess will be only that. A guess-summation.
